Who is Simio and what are we looking for?

At Simio we develop and sell a portfolio of software applications that help companies solve their most challenging problems. We are a very stable 12-year-old small company that is experiencing tremendous growth because of the impact global supply chain pressures are having on companies across a broad range of industries. Simio’s intellectual property and industrial know-how are at the core of our secret sauce. Our growth is creating job opportunities across the company. Specific to our world-class software development organization, we are looking for both tenured and early-career software engineers to help take our desktop and cloud-based simulation modeling products to new heights. The scope of your role will vary based on your experience level, but we have plenty of development opportunities to challenge and excite software engineers across all experience levels. When you join Simio’s development organization, you will be part of the forward software development team which is responsible for enhancing the user experience by implementing new features, expanding the capabilities of our applications by adding new functionality, improving application performance, fixing defects, automating software testing and validation processes, and ensuring our development environment is built to support our rapid pace of innovation and production.

Why join Simio?

  • Does developing complex code that ships software every three weeks sound exciting to you?
  • Do you currently develop software in a highly regulated industry where you feel your creativity is stifled, and you are looking for a more challenging role?
  • At Simio you will not hear the words SAFe, waterfall, or waterfragile, and we do not practice bulky SDLCs. We run 3-week sprints, which reduces the frequency of overplanning and agile ceremonies. Over the course of a 3-week (15 day / 120 hour) sprint cycle, less than 10% of your time will be spent in recurring meetings.
  • We are a fast growing, profitable, small business with over a thousand customers spread around the globe. We work with companies ranging in size from regional small/medium businesses to multi-national Fortune 100 enterprises. We are sure you will recognize many of the names on our customer list.
  • We offer a flexible work environment with options for working from our headquarters in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, to working remotely, or a combination of both. Our office is not filled with rows and rows of cubes as far as the eye can see. When you work at our headquarters, you will be in a good-sized office with a door and only one officemate, so you can concentrate and collaborate when and how you want.
  • We prefer Pittsburgh-based team members but if you are not in the ‘Burgh and Simio sounds like the place you want to work, please apply!
  • We are hiring at all levels of the software development career ladder based on your experience. Simio is a company made up almost entirely of engineers and we have a mix of tenured, mid-career, and early-career team members who enjoy collaborating, finding solutions to complex problems, and helping our customers to be successful.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Internship, Co-Op program, or some relevant professional experience for 0-2 years.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience designing and developing commercial software applications
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, preferably C# but not required
